Spiritual Seeking

At no other time in our history have so many options been available to us for spiritual growth and reflection. Having so much to choose from is not always the benefit it appears to be. Malcolm Gladwell, in his best-selling book Blink, writes about a marketing test in which grocery shoppers were offered a taste of over 10 different flavors of jam, compared to a table that offered only three flavors. Although just as many people stopped at both tables, sales were much higher at the table with only three choices, the conclusion being that the table with more choices was simply too overwhelming and shoppers left without buying because they could not decide what to buy.

If we approach life’s abundant table of opportunities without any sense of our own personal values, we can easily become overwhelmed and give up the search entirely. In working with spirituality or life purpose, together we will talk through and clarify your own core values and beliefs. This process can look back at past behavior uncovering and challenging beliefs that may have been unconsciously taken on from others, or it can remain very present focused, using visualization or value-defining exercises. Often coaching around values-clarification is a fluid process touching on many different life issues, helping to weave the separate pieces of a seemingly fragmented life into a unique tapestry with a distinct theme and personal meaning.

Creativity Coaching

Wherever you are stopping yourself from achieving your full potential, we will work at that place to break through the barriers and help you move to the next step.
Creativity Coaching is a blend of emotional processing and practical skills work. From exploring creative ideas or blocks to creative expression to setting small realistic goals and getting organized to achieve them, creativity coaching works with the whole person, the environment, and the relationships between creative individuals and their supporters, mentors and professional network.

Creativity coaching can help you:

  • Clarify goals
  • Challenge self-defeating thoughts or actions
  • Unravel and process creative blocks
  • Practice communication skills to express your dreams to others with confidence
  • Evaluate options
  • Learn the importance of taking time for rest and renewal

Maximizing Potential

When disorganization and stress start to interfere with doing the things you love to do, professional coaching can help. In our work together, you will learn to set goals and create an achievable plan to reach those goals. We will also work on recognizing and challenging the self-defeating thoughts that sap motivation, and impair memory, flexibility and quick thinking.

I’ll use my experience as a coach and former counselor to give you practical tools to conquer the problems that are keeping you from the life you deserve to be living. We’ll use those problems as resources to inform your future. As A Course In Miracles says “It takes great learning to understand that all things, events, encounters and circumstances are helpful.” The life you are dreaming of is living underneath the surface of the life you currently have. Coaching is the catalyst that will bring that life into the light.

Managing Transitions

As adults in the 2000’s many of us are juggling caring for parents, raising teenagers or fully accepting the choice to not have children, going back to school or embarking on new careers, losing homes or jobs or starting over due to divorce, worrying about retirement and adjusting to physical changes in our bodies. Coaching can help manage the stress and resulting confusion and chaos of multiple roles and transitions. Coaching provides support, tools, information and a safe place to rest and reflect on the meaning behind all we are doing, so we can plan ahead for the future with clarity and confidence.

Adult ADHD Coaching

My work with ADHD emphasizes using the strengths you have and working with your learning style to help you get and stay organized, learn to listen well in your social and professional relationships, and practice setting small, achievable goals to fulfill your dreams. Many adults struggle with the symptoms of ADHD – at work, in their homes and in their relationships. People with ADHD often feel scattered, out of control, and judge themselves with terms like “bad”, “flaky” or “inept.” They may feel like they can never reach their employment potential or maintain a good relationship.

Coaching gives hope by assisting with daily task management, helping with other issues, like managing finances, that are often challenging for people with ADHD, and by helping each person understand the specific impact ADHD is having in his or her life. Coaching can help you regain control over your life. Together we will deal with the self-defeating thoughts and behaviors that accompany ADHD, and develop coping strategies such as breaking tasks down into realistic chunks and learning to manage time lines and schedules.

Coaching can be particularly useful for

· college students – to manage schedules and assignments and develop study strategies that work

· self-employed professionals – to find balance between work and non-work activities, and to create systems for following through on the “boring” details of running a business

· families of people with ADHD – to learn strategies for communicating with your loved one, and to get tips and tools for helping them manage their lives while not giving up your own in the process

Please note that as a Coach I can not provide ADHD diagnostic services nor can I prescribe medications.
